Senators fire Paul MacLean as coach
The Ottawa Senators on Monday fired coach Paul MacLean. No replacement was immediately announced. MacLean was in his fourth season with the Senators, who are 11-11-5 and in 10th place in the Eastern Conference. MacLean won the Jack Adams Award as coach of the year in 2013 after the Senators went 25-17-6 in the shortened 2012-13 season.

Ottawa - December 8, 2014 - The Ottawa Senators on Monday fired coach Paul MacLean. No replacement was immediately announced.

MacLean was in his fourth season with the Senators, who are 11-11-5 and in 10th place in the Eastern Conference.

MacLean won the Jack Adams Award as coach of the year in 2013 after the Senators went 25-17-6 in the shortened 2012-13 season. They defeated the Montreal Canadiens in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs before losing to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second round.

The Senators missed the playoffs last season.

MacLean had a 114-90-35 record in the regular season and 8-9 in the playoffs.
