Montreal - Jul. 24, 2015: Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced on Friday that the team has agreed to terms on a one-year contract (2015-16) with free agent forward Alexander Semin. Semin, 31, played 57 games with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2014-15, recording 19 points (6 goals, 13 assists). The 6'02'', 209 lbs right winger served 32 penalty minutes and averaged 15:55 of ice time per game. FULL STORY

Los Angeles - Feb. 25, 2015: The Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday acquired defenseman Andrej Sekera from the Carolina Hurricanes in a trade for a first-round draft pick and a prospect. Sekera, 28, has 19 points in 57 games this season and was second on the Hurricanes in average ice time at 22:46. Last season he set career-bests with 11 goals and 44 points. The Hurricanes acquire defenseman Roland McKeown, who was the 50th pick in the 2014 NHL Draft. FULL STORY

Raleigh - Feb. 23, 2015: Carolina Hurricanes general manager Ron Francis indicated he will probably be active before the NHL Trade Deadline, at 3 p.m. ET on March 2, but any players moved will most likely be unrestricted free agents, according to the Raleigh News and Observer. One player Francis made clear he has no interest in trading is center Jordan Staal, after a report in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review suggested the Pittsburgh Penguins could have interest in reacquiring the No. 2 pick in the 2006 NHL Draft. The Hurricanes, who had lost their previous six matchups were looking to play spoiler to the Leafs' impressive December run.
