Mississauga - Sep. 30, 2016: Four power play goals – including three in a 2:59 stretch of the first period – lifted the Windsor Spitfires to a 4-1 win at the Hershey Centre against the Mississauga Steelheads on Friday night. Cole Purboo (4), Cole Carter (3) and Aaron Luchuk (3) broke up a scoreless first period on the man-advantage and Logan Brown assisted on all four Windsor (3-1-0-0) goals. FULL STORY
Windsor - Sep. 29, 2016: Rookie Barrett Hayton’s first Ontario Hockey League goal turned out to be the winner, as the Soo Greyhounds beat the Windsor Spitfires 3-1 on Thursday night at the WFCU Centre.
The loss was the first of the season for Windsor (2-1-0-0), which got its only goal on the night from rookie Cole Purboo – his third in as many games and 25 saves from Mikey DiPietro.
Sault. Ste. Marie - Sep. 24, 2016: The Windsor Spitfires exploded for five goals in the third period, overcoming a 2-0 deficit for a huge, 5-2 win in Sault Ste Marie on Friday night. The Spits will head home to host the Greyhounds on Thursday night at the WFCU Centre.
Windsor - Sep. 22, 2016: The Windsor Spitfires launched their road to the Memorial Cup season with a 4-1 win over the Erie Otters in front of 5,418 fans at the WFCU Centre. Shaun Bily opened the scoring for Erie at 8:53 of the first period. It was all Spitfires from there on with goals from Cole Carter, Cole Purboo and Aaron Luchuk to give the home team a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes. Hayden McCool rounded out the scoring for the home squad in the third period.
Windsor - Sep. 9, 2016: General Manager Warren Rychel is pleased to announce the Windsor Spitfires and
goaltender Lucas Patton have agreed to a standard Ontario Hockey League player and
education package. Patton, a 6'1, 181-pound native of Waterloo, Ontario, is a product of the Toronto
Marlboros AAA system, and spent part of the 2015-16 season with the Newmarket
Hurricanes of the OJHL.

Washington - Aug. 9, 2016: Washington Capitals left wing Alex Ovechkin said his preparations to play for Team Russia in the World Cup of Hockey 2016 are on track, despite reports that he sustained an injury during training.
Pittsburgh - Dec. 21, 2015: Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby will not play against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Consol Energy Center on Monday because of a lower-body injury.
Crosby did not practice Sunday after earning three assists in his past two games, a 6-2 loss to the Boston Bruins on Friday and a 2-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday. Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said Crosby's status against the Blue Jackets was questionable Sunday, but confirmed he would not play a day later.
Montreal - Nov. 30, 2015: Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price will miss at least the next six weeks because of a lower-body injury that will not require surgery, the Canadiens announced Monday.
Price originally was injured Oct. 29 during a 4-3 loss at the Edmonton Oilers and did not return until Nov 20, a 5-3 win at the New York Islanders. He played the return leg of the home and home with the Islanders on Nov 22 and started at the New York Rangers on Nov. 25. But he left that game after the second period when he aggravated the original injury.
Toronto - Nov. 25, 2015: Pain was losing 6-2 to the sad-sack Buffalo Sabres last November and 9-2 on home ice to Nashville three days later. Pain was the avalanche of criticism that arrived at the dressing room door after choosing to skip the customary post-game salute to fans.
Pain was a 9-28-5 finish to the season, and shooting yourselves in the skates again and again and again.

Toronto - Nov. 24, 2015: The London Knights and Mississauga Steelheads of the Ontario Hockey League each had three players earn A ratings from NHL Central Scouting in its November players to watch list for the 2016 NHL Draft, released Tuesday.
Among the players Central Scouting believes could go in the first round in June are London left wings Matthew Tkachuk (6-foot-1, 195 pounds) and Max Jones (6-3, 205), and defenseman Olli Juolevi (6-2, 179), as well as Mississauga centers Michael McLeod (6-2, 188) and Alexander Nylander (6-0, 179) and right wing Nathan Bastian (6-4, 208).
Philadelphia - Nov. 24, 2015: The Philadelphia Flyers will try two new forward combinations in a quest to rediscover their offense when they play the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday.
At practice Monday top-line center Claude Giroux was flanked by left wing Michael Raffl and right wing Brayden Schenn. Right wing Jakub Voracek, who has played on Giroux's line for most of the past few seasons, was shifted to right wing on a line with left wing Chris VandeVelde and center Pierre-Edouard Bellemare.
Edmonton - Nov. 23, 2015: Edmonton Oilers defenceman Brandon Davidson was in a bit of a tough spot heading into training camp. In order for the 24-year old to start the year in the NHL, he needed to make enough of an impression on head coach Todd McLellan to slot him above two of Mark Fayne, Andrew Ference, Oscar Klefbom, Nikita Nikitin, Darnell Nurse, Griffin Reinhart, Justin Schultz and Andrej Sekera.
