Mississauga - Sep. 30, 2016: Four power play goals – including three in a 2:59 stretch of the first period – lifted the Windsor Spitfires to a 4-1 win at the Hershey Centre against the Mississauga Steelheads on Friday night. Windsor - Sep. 29, 2016: Rookie Barrett Hayton’s first Ontario Hockey League goal turned out to be the winner, as the Soo Greyhounds beat the Windsor Spitfires 3-1 on Thursday night at the WFCU Centre.
The loss was the first of the season for Windsor (2-1-0-0), which got its only goal on the night from rookie Cole Purboo – his third in as many games and 25 saves from Mikey DiPietro. FULL STORY

Windsor - Sep. 22, 2016: The Windsor Spitfires launched their road to the Memorial Cup season with a 4-1 win over the Erie Otters in front of 5,418 fans at the WFCU Centre. Shaun Bily opened the scoring for Erie at 8:53 of the first period. It was all Spitfires from there on with goals from Cole Carter, Cole Purboo and Aaron Luchuk to give the home team a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes. announcement that the Windsor Spitfires will play host to the 2017 MasterCard
Memorial Cup. In a press release from the Spits, OHL Commissioner David Branch
was quoted as saying “The city of Windsor and Essex County is home to some of
the most passionate fans in the entire Canadian Hockey League.” Commissioner
Branch is right. We love our hockey, and we love our Spitfires. Think back to May

Came out gangbusters after the trade from Niagara to Windsor. Finally started using his size more effectively to get to the net and to track down loose pucks to set up scoring chances for his linemates. But as the season went on, he really seemed to wear down. In his final 18 games he went goalless. That type of production to close out the season probably cost him a chance to represent Canada at the Under 18's and it certainly dropped him a bit on my list.
