Montreal - Feb. 24, 2020: Ilya Kovalchuk was traded to the Washington Capitals by the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday for a third-round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft. Kovalchuk signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Canadiens on Jan. 3. The 36-year-old forward has 22 points (nine goals, 13 assists) in 39 games this season, including 13 points in 22 games with Montreal. FULL STORY

Pittsburgh - Mar. 13, 2019: Evgeni Malkin reached 1,000 NHL points with two assists for the Pittsburgh Penguins in a 5-3 win against the Washington Capitals at PPG Paints Arena on Tuesday. The 32-year-old center has 391 goals and 609 assists in 848 games with the Penguins, who selected him with the No. 2 pick in the 2004 NHL Draft. He is the 88th player in NHL history to reach 1,000 points, the first since Vancouver Canucks forward Daniel Sedin on Nov. 30, 2017. FULL STORY

Edmonton - Oct. 24, 2015: After winning three straight games, the Edmonton Oilers were brought back down to earth by Evgeny Kuznetzov and the Washington Capitals on Friday night. Washington - Mar. 1, 2015: The Washington Capitals have acquired forward Curtis Glencross from the Calgary Flames for a second- and third-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft. For the most part, they limited Washington’s scoring chances (something they hadn’t done in either of the first two meetings between the clubs). Their penalty killing was suburb, as they erased four Washington power plays.
