Holmberg has yet another four more point night, as Chiefs down Swift Current
Mitch Holmberg registered his fourth four point night of the season, in leading the Spokane Chiefs to 5-1 victory over the Swift Current Broncos in Wednesday night WHL action. Holmberg is currently riding an 11 game point streak,in which the Sherwood Park native has picked up 14 goals and 29 points, both are tops in the Western Hockey League.

Spokane - October 17, 2013 - WHL spectators keep waiting for Mitch Holmberg to cool down, but the right wing from Sherwood Park, Alberta, has other plans in mind.

Holmberg scored two more goals tonight to push his season total to a WHL-leading 14 as the Spokane Chiefs (9-2-0-0) flew past the Swift Current Broncos 5-1 in front of 3,329 fans at the Spokane Arena on Wednesday.

Holmberg nearly scored a third goal, which would have been the 100th of his career, but barely missed and saw linemate Mike Aviani bury the putback.

Holmberg's 29 points - thanks to an 11-game point streak - lead all WHL skaters.

Spokane's power play came to life as well, with the Chiefs taking advantage of Swift current's five penalties. Aviani, another star of the night for the Chiefs, scored both power play goals, which pushes him to the double-digit mark with 11 goals this season. Both Aviani and Holmberg collected two assists.

Three Chiefs - Holmberg, Aviani and Eric Williams - are all approaching career milestones. After Wednesday night's victory, Holmberg is one goal shy of 100; Aviani is three points shy of 150; Williams is one game played shy of 150 after stopping 26 of 27 shots sent his way tonight.

The Spokane Chiefs will host the Everett Silvertips Friday and the Victoria Royals on Saturday. Both games begin at 7:05 at the Spokane Arena.
