Moodie carrying the load during Blades win streak
Hockey team's don't usually go on winning streak's without getting production from everyone up and down the lineup, and that includes the goaltenders. Saskatoon - October 15, 2013 - Hockey team's don't usually go on winning streak's without getting production from everyone up and down the lineup, and that includes the goaltenders.

That's absolutely the case right now with the Saskatoon Blades, as they've picked up 4 straight wins, have wins in 5 of their past 6 and points in all 6 of those games.

Goaltender Alex Moodie has been in the cage for each of the Blades 4 straight victories, allowing only 6 goals in that span.

"Mentally, I'm just being positive all the time," said Moodie following yesterday's big road win in Moose Jaw, a game in which he stopped 40 of the 41 shots he faced. "Also, I'm just taking it one period at a time, not thinking of the whole game, just one shot at a time."

Coming in to the Blades game against Vancouver last week, Moodie had an 0-3 record, a 5.28 goals against average and an .872 save percentage. He's now sitting at 4-3 with a 3.01 goals against average and has a .919 save percentage after 4 straight wins with him in the cage.

"Every time he makes that timely save for us it gives us some energy," said Blades head coach Dave Struch on the play of Moodie. "It can be just as big as a goal for us. Even when we get scored on, he stays with it and we build off of his energy in the net."

The Blades as a whole have improved greatly defensively since their 0-5 start to the season. Saskatoon allowed 26 goals in the first 5 games of 2013-14. In their last 6 games, only 14 goals have found the back of Troy Trombley and Alex Moodie's net.

Saskatoon will be looking to keep the ball rolling this coming weekend as they head to Alberta and BC for their biggest road trip of the season to this point. They kick off the three game in three night set in Calgary on Thursday, are in Cranbrook to face the Ice on Friday and close it out in Lethbridge on Saturday.

The three game set is all a part of the Blades playing 7 consecutive games on the road. The Blades next home game goes on October 30th against the Medicine Hat Tigers.
