Belleville - August 29, 2013 - The Belleville Bulls Hockey Club is excited to announce that the team is completing the first phase of a new Hockey Skills & Development Centre in time for the 2013-14 season.

The new team development facility is located at the Quinte Sports & Wellness Centre on the upstairs concourse between the Yardmen and Wally Dever Arenas. The centre features a spacious layout that currently includes strength and fitness equipment with the addition of various skill development stations being discussed. Most notably, the Bulls have already invested in a state of the art skating treadmill that gives players access to cutting edge technology as they develop and improve their skating stride.

“We’re thrilled with the opportunity to expand what we offer our players in this developing training facility ” said Bulls Assistant Coach Jason Supryka. A certified personal trainer, Supryka oversees the club’s strength and conditioning. “Our new facility gives Bulls players every opportunity to make improvements to a wide range of elements in their game.”

The Bulls’ Hockey Skills & Development Centre enjoyed a trial run this summer. Supryka tested the facility with his summer pro hockey clients from across the Quinte region as they prepared for a new season. “Some of these guys have trained with me for seven or eight years,” Supryka added. “They’ve really enjoyed the additional space here and I know our Bulls players will too.”

Bulls players got a first impression of the new facility during their training throughout three weeks of instructing Bulls Hockey Schools this month. Defenceman Jordan Subban had positive reviews on the new training space. “There are some big improvements that our team will benefit from,” he said. “The space and lighting are both great. There are televisions and a wide range of equipment available. It’s everything you need to put in a great workout.”

The Bulls’ Hockey Skills and Development Centre is planned for team use although discussion on the possibilities of opening this facility up to larger scale initiatives is ongoing. Potential future use could include private or public membership, team training for elite athletes or supervised team use. “ This centre offers us the versatility to eventually add use of this facility to the Bulls’ overall hockey development business. This concept is well worth considering,” Supryka added.

The Bulls opened training camp at the Yardmen Arena on Wednesday. Scrimmages will continue through Friday.

Season Ticket Membership packages are available for pickup at the Bulls box office on weekdays between 10:00am and 5:00pm. Fans can still purchase Season Ticket Memberships as well as Mini Ticket Plans by calling 613-966-8338 today!
