Cornwall - July 12, 2013 - The Cornwall Colts have announced that they have been awarded the Fred Page Cup for 2015. The Junior A tournament hosts the best teams of Eastern Canada with the winner playing for the Royal Bank Cup and the title of being Canada’s best. The Colts will automatically be in the tournament as the host team with 3 other top teams from the Quebec Junior AA Hockey League, Maritime Junior A Hockey League and of course Cornwall’s group, the Central Canadian Hockey League.

This will not be Cornwall’s first time to the tournament nor holding it as well. Cornwall just came back from the Fred Page Cup this year where it was held in Truro, Nova Scotia. The Colts are looking to make this upcoming season a winning with back to back CCHL titles so they can face-off in the 2014 tournament held in Saint-Jerome Quebec. Cornwall last held the Fred Page Cup tournament in 2003 and then held the Royal Bank Cup in the same year which was broadcast for all of Canada to see on TSN.

Three entries were included for the location in 2015 including the Smith Falls Bears and Gloucester Rangers. Cornwall proved to be the winning pick due to experience and the arena where it is being played. This is great news for Cornwall and area as it sure to drive in some consumers to the local economy.

The 2015 Fred Page Cup will take place sometime in April of that year. For now the Colts are gearing up for their 23rd CCHL season and will be on the ice this coming fall.
