Windsor - June 30, 2013 - TSN is reporting that the Pittsburgh Penguins and defenceman Kris Letang have agreed on a deal that will keep Letang in Pittsburgh for the next eight years. The deal is reportedly worth $58 million.

The deal reportedly has a limited no trade clause identifying 15 teams.

Yesterday, Penguins General Manager Ray Shero was quoted as saying, “There is a time to make a deal, time to sign a contract, agree on a contract or not agree on a contract,” Shero said. “There is a point in the negotiation where you have to make a decision. Kris is going to have to make one and so am I.”

Letang, 26, was a finalist for the Norris Trophy this season as the NHL’s best defenseman after posting 38 points (5G-33A) in 35 games - the only blueliner in the league to average over a point per game.
