Tim Bits - Burke’s whipping boy Kadri on pace for 48 goals
Parting shot. Toronto Maple Leafs for GM, Brian Burke’s whipping boy Nazem Kadri has two goals in the Leafs’ first two games. Good for Kadri. I wish him well. Note to Burkie - karma is a funny thing. On another note, is it me, or is the new Orville Redenbacher’s Pop Up Bowl the dumbest invention since the FoxTrax glow puck?

Windsor - January 23, 2013 - Some random thoughts today,

Ok, Mother Nature. You win. I’m cold. And just as a reminder, this is the Banana Belt, Southern Ontario. Same latitude as California. Northern California, but still, California. Last weekend, I saw people playing baseball, but this week? Not so much. It’s kind of fitting that this deep freeze started on the weekend the NHL season finally began.

Speaking of the NHL, many words were spoken and written about how fans would react to the settlement in the labour dispute. Some vowed to stay away, while others said they would forgive, forget, and move on. Based on attendance figures for the first four days of the season - sellouts in Montreal, Toronto, Detroit, and Columbus (yes, Columbus) to name a few - it looks like all has been forgiven. As for me, I did my part to show my displeasure with the whole situation. I looked away for the opening face-off, and only had the Leafs game on three tvs.

The Windsor Spitfires are on a roll, taking eleven out of twelve possible points since the OHL trade deadline. Well done boys, keep it rolling!!

How about those Baltimore Ravens? The very thought of them upsetting the New England Patriots last Sunday was absurd. Beating Tom Brady in his own back yard would be like beating Peyton Manning in his. Wait a minute….I think they did that too. These Ravens are for real, and, like Ray Lewis or not, you have to admit that the stage has been set for some great storylines for Super Bowl XLVII.

Is it me, or is the new Orville Redenbacher’s Pop Up Bowl the dumbest invention since the FoxTrax glow puck?

Why can’t I remember “twelve grain bagel” when I pull up to my morning coffee drive thru? I say it in my head, over and over, while I’m waiting in line. When I get to the speaker to place my order I get a brain cramp, and end up stammering something about “the one that’s supposed to be good you.”

On a recent Morning Drive show with AM800’s Mike and Lisa, listeners were asked to call in and talk about their first concert experience. One listener recalled a show at St. Clair College in the early 70s featuring the Ike and Tina Turner Revue. I thought that was pretty cool.

Parting shot. Brian Burke’s whipping boy Nazem Kadri has two goals in the Leafs’ first two games. Good for Kadri. I wish him well. Note to Burkie - karma is a funny thing.

Until next time.
TC out.
