Chicago - June 6, 2019 - The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have named Marc Crawford as an assistant coach, completing the 2019-20 season coaching staff. Head Coach Jeremy Colliton's staff also includes Assistant Coaches Sheldon Brookbank and Tomas Mitell, Goaltending Coach Jimmy Waite, Video Coach Matt Meacham and Marc's son, Dylan Crawford, who serves as assistant video coach.

Crawford has 18 seasons of NHL coaching experience including 1,169 games as a head coach in the NHL. He won a Stanley Cup as head coach of the Colorado Avalanche during the 1995-96 season and has an all-time NHL coaching record of 556-431-182. As a head coach in the NHL, his all-time playoff record is 43-40.

"Jeremy has an extremely bright and innovative mind and I am totally impressed by his presence and enthusiasm," Crawford said. "I know we will have a terrific relationship and my experience should benefit the entire coaching staff."

He most recently served as interim head coach with the Ottawa Senators where he compiled a record of 7-10-1 at the end of the 2018-19 season. Before being named interim head coach of the Senators, Crawford served as associate head coach for three seasons in Ottawa. In addition to Ottawa (2018-19) and Quebec/Colorado (1994 - 1998), Crawford also had head coaching stints with Vancouver (1998 - 2006), Los Angeles (2006 - 2008) and Dallas (2009 - 2011).

Crawford began his NHL coaching career with Quebec in 1994 and in his first season became the youngest coach to win the Jack Adams Trophy for coach of the year. Crawford's 556 career NHL wins place him 21st all-time in league history.

As a player, Crawford spent his entire six-year NHL career with the Vancouver Canucks, tallying 50 points (19G, 31A) in 176 career games as a forward from 1981-87.

In addition to his NHL coaching career, Crawford served as head coach for Team Canada at the 1998 Olympic Winter Games in Nagano. He also spent four seasons coaching the ZSC Lions of the Swiss National League where he won three league titles.
