Anaheim - March 17, 2019 - Ryan Kesler could be out for the remainder of the season for the Anaheim Ducks.

The 34-year-old center has missed four games because of a hip injury and hasn't played since March 6.

"I don't know if we're going to see him again this year," Ducks general manager and coach Bob Murray told the Orange County Register. "I don't know when he's coming back. He's hurting pretty good."

Kesler, who has eight points (five goals, three assists) in 60 games this season, played his 1,000th NHL game March 5 against the Arizona Coyotes but has been dealing with the hip issue all season.

"I get why he wanted to do that," Murray said. "It would have been very difficult to say no (to playing in 1,000 games)."

Kesler missed the first 37 games last season after having offseason hip surgery. He has three years remaining on a six-year contract he signed July 15, 2015.

Selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the first round (No. 23) of the 2003 NHL Draft, Kesler has 573 points (258 goals, 315 assists) in 1,001 NHL games and 65 points (24 goals, 41 points) in 101 Stanley Cup Playoff games. He's had nine seasons of at least 20 goals, with an NHL career high of 41 in 2010-11.

The Ducks (28-35-9), who visit the Colorado Avalanche on Friday (9 p.m. ET; ALT, FS-W, NHL.TV), are 12 points behind the Arizona Coyotes for the second wild card into the playoffs from the Western Conference.
