Windsor - February 18, 2015 - The Spitfires host the Plymouth Whalers for the final time as we honour the life and legacy of Our Captain Forever, Mickey Renaud, at the WFCU Centre (7:05).

Game sponsor Sutherland Global Services will be on-hand to present the annual Mickey Renaud Memorial Scholarship to this year's student athlete recipients during a pregame ceremony that will also include a video tribute to Mickey and a salute to his parents, Mark and Jane Renaud.

A TRUE RIVALRY ENDS

We'll also honour outgoing Whalers and former Windsor Compuware Spitfires owner Peter Karmanos prior to the game.

At the end of this season, the Plymouth Whalers will be moving to Flint, Michigan, ending more than two decades of intense rivarly between the sides and Karmanos' tenure as the franchise owner.

Tonight marks the first game of a home-and-home set against the Whalers, with the back half set to go Friday at Compuware Arena.

Windsor (22-29-2-1) pulled within two points of the Saginaw Spirit for eighth in the Western Conference by virtue of a 5-4 overtime loss to the Guelph Storm Monday.

With Saginaw idle until Friday, a win would get the Spits into a tie for that elusive final playoff spot, albeit with the Spirit holding a game in-hand.

Plymouth (18-31-2-2) is coming off back-to-back weekend defeats; a 5-3 loss to Barrie on Friday and a 5-0 shutout setback against the Soo.
