Windsor - August 27, 2019 - The Windsor Spitfires had the correct Angle, to squeeze out a big win, in front of 2,703 at the WFCU Centre, Thursday night, over rivals Erie Otters.

Erie led, after two periods 1-0, despite being outshot 24-14. A little more than three minutes, into the third period, RW Luke Boka, skated by, two Erie defenseman, to burry his second goal of the season, sliding the puck between the pads of Goaltender, Daniel Murphy of Erie.

Unlike the season opener against the Peterborough Pete's, goals were hard to come by given a stellar goaltending performance, from Daniel Murphy, who had 34 saves in a tough loss for the Otters. Midway through the third period, you could hear a pen drop at the WFCU Centre, after Tyler Angle, took a penalty to have the Spitfires down two skaters, for over a minute, of a two man advantage, for the Erie. Angle lowered his head and could not watch the penalty kill from the home teams penalty box. Spitfires Defense and goaltender Kari Piiroinen (19 saves) came up large to kill off a lengthy, two man advantage. Angle on his next shift, with less than six minutes remaining in the game, got redemption, by tapping in his third goal of the season, which was eventually, the game winning goal.

The Windsor Spitfires, will hit the road, for the first road game of the season, to face the Bulldogs, Friday, September 27, at the FirstOntario Centre, in Hamilton, ON.

Note: Spits Defenseman Ruben Rafkin, showed toughness and skill on the blue line, while Kari Piiroinen made keys saves, when called upon in goal. Offence continued to gel with a lot of talent up front and will be at the top of the league, this season in offensive statistics. Spitfires passed with precision and had 36 quality shots in the Game two win.
