Wilkes-Barre - January 31, 2015 -

It was the Lehigh Valley Phantoms rolling into town tonight to take on the WBS Penguins at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza, tonight's crowd was a sell out - it was also trading card night.

WBS got off to a shaky start but brought it together Scott Wilson drew first blood for WBS fighting through the crowd and netting a nice backhander making it one nothing Penguins.

Tom Kuhnhackl would tally the Penguins second of the night pushing through and getting a nice rebound goal. Lehigh Valley would tally one on a blown coverage and one on the power play making all things even at two at the end of the first period.

Second period was not very forgiving to the WBS Penguins as the Phantoms pulled ahead by one on a Pettersson goal, Matt Murray got the hook and Jeff Zatkoff came on for WBS.

The WBS Penguins had a goal waived off on incidental contact of the goalie, my question is why wasn't there a penalty for interference if no penalty then no foul therefore a goal, right or wrong whats your thought?

Mathers and LeBlond did a little dance had to score this one for PL3 but just a slight edge on the fight not a TKO. Well after two were in the books it was WBS Penguins two and Lehigh Valley Phantoms three with twenty more minutes to play in regulation.

The WBS Penguins just could not recover from the sparse lead the Phantoms pulled out on them in the second period, maybe it was the disallowed goal or maybe it was just a funk but the Penguins just seemed to implode.

The Phantoms on the other hand recorded three more goals in the third period and took the Penguins 6-2, but WBS did not go down without a fight. Several fights to be exact lets just say by the end of the third period the Penguins bench had about eight players on it, ok maybe a few more than eight but you get the idea.
