Buffalo - January 20, 2015 - Last week, it was learned that the Sabres would be without forward Cody McCormick for the forseeable future due to a blood clot in his calf. Now, it’s official: McCormick will likely miss the rest of the season.

“Right now, I’m not banking on him coming back,” Nolan said following the Sabres’ 6-4 loss to the Detroit Red Wings. McCormick missed some practice time but played three games after blocking a shot back on January 3 in New York. He was admitted to the hospital on January 10 with the clot, spending part of the week there. No one is entirely sure if blocking the shot is what has caused the clot in his calf.

The hope is that this won’t be the end of the line for the well-liked 31-year-old. Blood clots ended the career of Tomas Vokoun and look to do the same for defenseman Kimmo Timonen.

This just sums up the year for the Sabres, an awful time that we all hope will end very soon. Get better, Cody.
