Cuylle scores in overtime to continue the Spitfires winning streak

Windsor Spitfires captain Will Cuylle, scores in overtime to continue the Spitfires winning streak at three games, in front of 3388 fans at the WFCU Centre. The Spitfires will take a road trip to Erie, to face the Otters back-to-back, on Friday, March 11, 2022 and Saturday, March 12, 2022 both games have puck drop at 7 pm, at the Erie Insurance Arena.

Windsor - Mar. 11, 2022:
Windsor Spitfires captain Will Cuylle, scores in overtime to continue the Spitfires winning streak at three games, in front of 3388 fans at the WFCU Centre.

The first period was a display of the Windsor’s solid defensive play in recent games. Spitfires only allowed 5 shots on goal while the netminder for Owen Sound, Nick Chenard was forced to make saves on all 10 shots put on net by Windsor.

The Spitfires notched twine at the 12:34 mark of the second period, with a nice goal from Will Cuylle (29th), assisted by a great feed from Wyatt Johnston to break the scoring. Shots on net favored Windsor outshooting Owen Sound 22-10 at the end of two.

In the third period the Owen Sound Attack, applied pressure in the offensive zone and tied the game at 13:11 by Nicholas Porco, scoring his 19th goal of the season. Windsor responded with late pressure and drew a penalty with just 8 seconds remaining in the frame. This power play carried over into overtime and the Spitfires quickly cashed in with a goal from Captain Will Cuylle, notching his 30th goal of the season. Cuylle tapped in a rebound that rang off two goal posts from a shot from Wyatt Johnston giving the Spitfires a 2-1 overtime win.

The Windsor Spitfires with the win, moved into a tie for second place, in the Western Conference. Both London and Windsor have 66 points, trailing first place, Flint Thunderbirds with 70 points. Windsor has played three less games, in the season schedule than Flint.
