Lakeshore - May. 15, 2020:
The Town of Lakeshore recently completed our first Community Survey with the assistance of Ipsos, a global market research company. The telephone survey asked questions about life in Lakeshore, service satisfaction, interaction with the Town, communication and engagement among other items. The Town conducted the surveys to gauge public opinion on quality of life issues and how the Town conducts business and municipal service delivery in Lakeshore.

The survey reveals that 93% of Lakeshore residents are either very satisfied (46%) or somewhat satisfied (47%) with the services provided by the Town. The proportion of Lakeshore residents who are “very satisfied” is significantly higher than the National Norm.

Other highlights from the survey include:

    - 97% of residents feel they have an excellent or good quality of life in the Town

    - 89% of residents see Lakeshore as welcoming, vibrant and feel a sense of belonging

    - 81% of the respondents agree that infrastructure (including roads and parks) is well maintained and the Town has a good network of parks, natural areas and trails

    - 86% of residents are satisfied with the overall service they’ve received in their contact with the Town

    - Citizen satisfaction with core Town services is strong especially in the areas of fire protection, garbage, recreation facilities and libraries, rating them 80% and higher

    - An appealing feature of the Town is its proximity to the lake and water, but there is a concern about water levels in the future and the impact on their property

    - Road quality and infrastructure are the top issues in the minds of Lakeshore residents The survey was designed to take an in-depth look at how we do business at the Town and deliver our services. The survey also provided residents with an opportunity to share their thoughts on their preferred direction of future budgets, methods of communication and interaction with the Town.

The Town of Lakeshore thanks the residents who participated in the telephone survey for their time. Lakeshore Council will use the feedback received to guide future decisions for the municipality on budgets and levels of service.
