Windsor - December 2, 2012 - Brady Vail scored the winner in the fifth round of a shootout as the Spitfires squeaked out a 2-1 win over the Ottawa 67s on Sunday afternoon in front of 5,627 at the WFCU Centre.

The win snapped a three-game losing skid and marked the first time in six tries the Spitfires have won in a shootout.

Chris Marchese's eighth goal of the season gave the Spitfires a 1-0 lead at 11:11 of the first period, sending hundreds of stuffed animals flying from the crowd as part of the team's annual Teddy Bear Toss for local charities.

Playing their third game in less than 48 hours, the undermanned 67s, who dressed just 15 skaters, didn't quit, tying the game up at 14:08 of the second period on Taylor Fielding's eighth of the season.

That's the way the score stayed through 60 minutes, thanks to strong goaltending from Ottawa's Jacob Blair (40 saves) and Windsor's Jarsolav Pavelka (22 saves).

Kerby Rychel, Marchese and Vail scored in the shootout for Windsor (11-12-1-5), while Cody Ceci and Remy Giftopolous replied for Ottawa (7-20-0-3).
