Stakes are high for Colts and Kings in CCHL Finals
The Cornwall Colts will have to uncrown the Pembroke Lumber Kings if they hope to hoist the CCHL championship trophy.

Cornwall - Apr. 3, 2011 - For Cornwall, it's a chance to end a decade-long championship drought.

For Pembroke, it's a chance to win an unprecedented fifth consecutive Bogart Cup.

That's the picture facing the Colts and Lumber Kings as they head into the Central Canada Hockey League best-of-seven finals.

The two league heavyweights will open the finals tonight in Pembroke in what is sure to be a highly-entertaining and hard-fought series.

Cornwall and Pembroke sat atop the league standings for much of the regular season, and they were also placed in the national Junior A hockey rankings throughout the 2010-11 campaign.

The Lumber Kings had the better regular season, collecting 51 wins - three more than the Colts. However, the Colts had the advantage in the regular season series between the two teams, winning three of five encounters.

Game 2 of the series will be played on Wednesday in Cornwall (7:30 p.m. at the civic complex), and the series will shift back to Pembroke on Friday for Game 3. Game 4 will be held in Cornwall on April 11, while Games 5, 6 and 7, if necessary, will take place on April 13 (Pembroke), April 14 (Cornwall) and April 16 (Pembroke).
