Windsor-Essex well represented on Day 3 at Rio 2016
The region of Windsor-Essex was well represented on Day Three of the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Kylie Masse, 20, from Lasalle Ontario delivered a surprise bronze medal performance in in the women’s 100-metre backstroke. Windsor Ontario native Miah-Marie Langlois, scored the winning point as Canada's women's basketball team to a 71-67 comeback win over Serbia in Group B action.



Windsor - August 8, 2016 - The region of Windsor-Essex was well represented on Day Three of the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Kylie Masse, 20, from Lasalle Ontario delivered a surprise bronze medal performance in in the women’s 100-metre backstroke. Windsor Ontario native Miah-Marie Langlois, 24, scored the winning point as Canada's women's basketball team to a 71-67 comeback win over Serbia in Group B action.

“It means the world to me,” Masse told CBC in a televised interview. “I knew it was going to be a great race and it would come to down the finish.”

"Honestly I wasn't thinking about anything. Kia (NURSE) was driving, I knew I had to move to get open, they collapsed a lot and then, I was wide open. After that, it was just like practice, all those shots I took in the gym,” said Langlois

Masse’s medal was the fourth for Canada and the third in swimming in three days of the Olympics.
