28th Glengarry Cup
On Saturday, March 31st, the Lancaster & District Curling Club hosted the 28th Edition of the Glengarry Club; this is when the 3 Curling Clubs in Glengarry annually compete for the Glengarry Cup. Each club enters a Ladies', Men's and a Mixed Team to represent their Club, in a round robin format. Founders of the Cup are Coleman and Joan P. MacDonald.

Lancaster - Apr. 1, 2012 - On Saturday, March 31st, the Lancaster & District Curling Club hosted the 28th Edition of the Glengarry Club; this is when the 3 Curling Clubs in Glengarry annually compete for the Glengarry Cup. Each club enters a Ladies', Men's and a Mixed Team to represent their Club, in a round robin format. Founders of the Cup are Coleman and Joan P. MacDonald.

In 3rd place was Maxville with a combined total of 62.5 points.

Their teams were:

Ladies' Team - Skipped by Julie Richer 3rd Patty Nowry 2nd Lieze McColm and Lead was Jen Fraser.
Men's Team - Skipped by Ian Fraser 3rd Donnie Blaney 2nd Darren McColm and Lead was Brian Campbell.
Mixed Team - Skipped by Bill Sobering 3rd Janice Sobering 2nd Dan O'Flaherty and Lead was Lyma MacIntosh.

In 2nd place was Alexandria with a combined score of 67 points

Their teams were:

Ladies' Team - Skipped by Carol Fraser 3rd Kate MacLeod 2nd Janet Fraser and Lead was Nancy MacLeod.
Men's Team - Skipped by Gordie Lafave 3rd Ian McKay 2nd Jim Poulton and Lead was Paul Villeneuve.
Mixed Team - Skipped by Jim Morris 3rd Marcelle Quaile 2nd Karl Witthoeft and Lead was Shirley Secours.

In 1st Place was Lancaster with a combined score of 79 points.

Their teams were:

Ladies' Team - Skipped by Jeannine Leroux 3rd Debbie Gilmour 2nd Lori Carlisle and Lead was Cheryl Lariviere.
Men's Team - Skipped by Taff Pye 3rd Don Marsh 2nd Romeo Jodouin and Lead was Gilles Dubeau.
Mixed Team - Skipped by Colin Osborne 3rd Brenda MacLeod 2nd Craig Carlisle and Lead was Elizabeth Desjardins.

After a full day of Curling, players and guests enjoyed scrumptious appetizers followed by a fantasic Roast Beef Supper.

Co-ordinators Elaine Pye and Tara Kemp would like to thank everyone who helped to make this day a great success. Special thanks go to Barbara Menard who looked after the Early Morning Coffee & Goodies - Les Wert , Gwen & Lyn Bergeron and Sandra French -who served the Lancaster Perch and soup & sandwiches at lunch time. Our in house chef, was Duncan Cornes with sous chefs Patti McLeod and Pauline Armstrong. Thanks also to Iceman Don Marsh and his team, Pipers Tara McArthur and Bruce McCuaig. Photos of this special day were taken by Les Wert, and Stats were done by Jean Jodouin and Elaine Warden. Special thanks also goes to all those who helped with clean-up.

What a way for the Lancaster Curling Club to celebrate their 50th year Anniversary, holders of the Glengarry Cup.

The 2013 Glengarry Cup will be hosted by the Maxville Club.
