Lafrance wins Modified Feature at Cornwall Motor Speedway
A complete race program was presented at Cornwall Motor Speedway on Go Glass Night. All five divisions were in action along with Rocket Roger, a stuntman making great stunts during intermission and after the racing program. Stéphane Lafrance won the Modified Feature.

Cornwall - Jul. 11, 2011 - A complete race program was presented at Cornwall Motor Speedway on Go Glass Night. All five divisions were in action along with Rocket Roger, a stuntman making great stunts during intermission and after the racing program.

Marc Therrien took the lead over the 21-car field in the 30-lap Modifieds in front of Brian Mcdonald and Gage Morin. Bruno Lepage brought the caution on lap three. Therrien was still in front of the pack with Stéphane Lafrance in battle for third with Morin when Preston Forbes brought the second caution of the race on lap six. On the restart, McDonald used the outside lane to take command over Therrien with Stéphane Lafrance now in third place when the race is slowed on the tenth lap. When the race starts again McDonald was still in front with Tim O’Brien now fourth with Kayle Robidoux cracking the top five as the race reached the halfway point. John Lazore brought the yellow on lap 16 as Robidoux and Danny O’Brien head to the pits. Lafrance was able to grab the lead on lap 18 as Tim O’Brien passed McDonald for second on the following lap as Pat Cashman brought the caution with 10 laps to go. Lafrance was still on top as Carey Terrance seemed strong using the high lane and as he battled with O’Brien for second when Bruno Lepage stopped in turn four on lap 22. On the restart, several changes in the top five as Terrance and Joel Doiron are able to pass Tim O’Brien for second with Laurent Ladouceur now in fifth. Lafrance lead the final laps to win his second feature of the season at Cornwall over Terrance, Doiron, O’Brien and Ladouceur.

A full field of 24 cars started the 20-lap Pro-Stock feature race; Rock Aubin led the first laps of the event with Ryan Stable and Gilles Godard behind him. Godard and Oakes were on the back bumper of the leader, Oakes took the lead on lap seven by using the inside lane with Joey Ladouceur joining the top five after starting in the back of the pack. Aubin who had a great run, had a flat tire and headed to the pits on lap 11. Oakes was still in front with Ladouceur in second and Ricky Thompson in third, Ladouceur was able to pass Oakes for the lead just before caution came out for Godard. Ladouceur alone in front with Thompson and Oakes had a great battle for second as Ladouceur led the final laps to capture his fifth win of the season over Oakes, Thompson, Corey Wheeler and George Renaud.

Dillon Sallows took the lead in the 20-lap Sportsman feature with Billy Cook and Dan Jalbert. Jenna David brought the first caution on lap five. On the start, Jalbert took the second place over Cook as Corey Barnes stopped in turn one and race was slowed down on the following lap. Ronnie Tyo had a great start and passes Sallows for the lead but went too high and opened the door to Shane Pecore who became the new leader at the halfway point over Sallows, Jalbert, Tyo and Kristian Smoke. Pecore led the final portion of the feature to get his second win of the season in front of Sallows, Jalbert, Chris Herbison and Tyo completed the top five.

A field of 17 cars took the green in the 15-lap Semi-Pro feature, Joe Woods was the early leader followed by Adam Delormier and Kevin McRae. Junior Delormier caused the first caution on lap six. Woods had a good start over McRae and Richard Brady now in third. Derek Cryderman quickly got in the mix as he took the lead on lap eigh over Woods with Steve Gagné making his way to third. Gagné powered by Woods as caution came out on lap 11. Cryderman and Woods were penalized some positions for rough riding leaving the lead to Steve Gagné. Gagné had a flat on the last lap giving the lead to Cryderman who won over McRae and Andrew Giroux in third.

The Mini-Stock category completed the night with a 12-lap feature race. Dan Desnoyers took the lead over Mike Gaucher and Mathieu Aubin. A caution came on the fourth lap. Desnoyers stayed in first in front of Gaucher and Marc Chartrand now in third. The leader in points, Ernie Cree had joined the leading pack as he passed Chartrand for third with five laps to go. Desnoyers led the final moments to win his first feature in his career over Cree and Gaucher.

Sprint Car fans will be pleased to hear that next week Cornwall Motor Speedway will host a double header with the Patriot Sprint Group in town with 360 cubic inch powered engines along with the long awaited visit of the Lightning Sprint, a smaller version of Sprint Cars but as spectacular. The Modifieds, Pro-Stock and Mini-Stock are also on the schedule.
