Collins Family Fundraiser raises $15,000 for CHEO
To quote Max Keeping, the retired CTV (CJOH) News icon, “It never ceases to amaze everyone outside your community how much Cornwall gives.” Those words were spoken by Keeping at Friday night’s fundraiser/thank you for the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.

Cornwall - Sep. 19, 2011 - To quote Max Keeping, the retired CTV (CJOH) News icon, “It never ceases to amaze everyone outside your community how much Cornwall gives.” Those words were spoken by Keeping at Friday night’s fundraiser/thank you for the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.

Over $15,000 was raised by the one night event which attracted roughly 200 people to the Ramada Inn. The night was organized by Jessie and Pat Collins. The Cornwall residents and their soon to be one year old son, Aiden were frequent visitors to CHEO only a few weeks after the toddler was born. Basically, CHEO saved their son’s life and he’s now a very vibrant and active child.

They told the mesmerized crowd about their struggles following the similar heart wrenching stories from Kristi McGhee and Heidi Roy.

Students from a local dance studio showcased their talent while Graham Greer provided his usual top notch musical entertainment between trivia sessions.

Keeping was the guest of honour who accepted the contributions on behalf of CHEO and the Max Keeping Foundation.

It was an honour to play a small part of this event as MC. As a lifetime resident of Cornwall, its night’s like that where I shake my head in amazement. I’m echoing Keeping’s words, Cornwall continues to give!

$15,000 from a crowd of about 200 people who paid $25 to attend a gathering, a celebration of success from CHEO.

Congratulations to Pat and Jessie and their families for continuing the legacy of Cornwall’s giving nature.
