Cornwall police has concluded its investigation into a hit in Sunday's Game 3 between Cornwall and Kanata which left Stallions goaltender Scott Shackell with a concussion.

Cornwall - Mar. 16, 2011 - A Cornwall Colts player won't be facing any charges as a result of a controversial hit in Sunday's Game 3 playoff contest between the Colts and Kanata Stallions.

The Cornwall Community Police Service announced Wednesday that it has concluded its investigation into the alleged assault on a Kanata hockey player during Sunday night's game.

Kanata goalie Scott Shackell was struck by Colts forward Mark Borkowski in the opening minute of the Game 3 on Sunday, and the following day, police announced they were looking into the incident.

"Police have interviewed relevant witnesses in this case and also have conducted an extensive review of original digital video as well as consulted with the Crown Attorney's office," reads a press release from the police service.

"It was determined that the collision and resulting injury did not fall within criminal standards as per the provisions under the Criminal Code of Canada."

Borkowski was suspended for Game 4 of the series on Tuesday night (which the Colts won 4-3) along with three other Colts and Stallions players who were ejected from a very scrappy Game 3 at the Cornwall Civic Complex.

The Colts now lead the series 3-1, with Game 5 going on Thursday night at the civic complex (7:30 p.m.).
