Laliberte sets new points record in Colts
Jacob Laliberte slides the puck past Gloucester netminder Ben Curley on Saturday to register his 131st regular season point - a new team record.

Cornwall - Mar. 5, 2011 - In his final regular season game with the Colts, Jacob Laliberte etched his name into the team record books.

The Colts captain had a goal and three assists Saturday in an 8-3 win over Gloucester to finish with 133 regular season points - a new team record.

Laliberte came into the game just one point shy of the previous mark of 130, set by Hugo Boisvert in 1995-96.

But the veteran forward didn't waste any time in passing the record as he assisted on the Colts' second goal and scored the third at 7:35 of the second period to reach the milestone.

The goal - which was scored in a scramble in front of Gloucester's net - brought many of the 1,253 fans at the Cornwall Civic Complex to their feet for a round of applause.

Cornwall dominated play for most of the game and they benefitted from a balanced scoring attack, with goals coming from Laliberte, Leslie Lavictoire, Matt Jacobs, Drew Henry, Kyle Baun, Michael Rowbotham and the Spink twins (one each).

Chad Millett, Jordan Fequet and Michael Webley scored for Gloucester.

The Colts finished with a 48-13-1-0 record on the season, good for 97 points and second place overall. They will now get set for the first round of the playoffs, which will kick off on Thursday.
