Cornwall Island - Feb. 27, 2011 - The Akwesasne Warriors will be looking to push the Thousand Island Privateers to the brink of elimination tonight when the teams meet on Cornwall Island for Game 3 of their opening-round Federal Hockey League playoff series.

The series momentum swung back in Akwesasne's favour on Saturday night as the Warriors skated to a convincing 6-0 road win over the Privateers to tie the series at 1-1.

Warriors goalie David Plouffe stopped all 39 shots fired his way to secure the shutout, while Darick Ste. Marie, Joshua Desmarais (with two), Ahmed Mahfouz, Addison Pelkey and Miguel Delisle did the damage on the scoreboard for the Warriors.

Akwesasne nearly found themselves up 2-0 in the series, but the Privateers mounted a gutsy comeback in Game 1 of the series on Thursday night on Cornwall Island, scoring four goals in the final period to pull out a 6-5 win.

The Warriors will be looking for a different outcome tonight when the two rivals square off once again on the island (7:05 p.m. puck drop).

Game 4 of the series will be played on Friday at the Bonnie Castle Rec Center, while Game 5 - if necessary - will be back in Akwesasne on Saturday night.
