SHORT SHIFT - Spits fall in OT to Fronts

Windsor - March 3, 2019 - On an afternoon that the Windsor Spitfires wore special jerseys to honour area first responders, the home team dropped a heart breaking game early in overtime.

The Spits fell behind 3-1 by midway through the game. Windsor had a strong third period out-shooting their opponent 20-8. The team rallied to tie Kingston on goals by Luke Boka and Curtis Douglas.

Windsor is in a battle to secure the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Thankfully for the Spits, the Erie Otters fell 3-1 to the London Knights. Windsor now sits two points ahead of Erie, however the Otters have two games in hand.

On the other hand, the Frontenacs hurt their chances in securing the first overall pick. Going into the game, Kingston owned the worst record in the OHL. After the win, they are one point ahead of Flint, with the Firebirds having a game in hand.

The Spits have five games remaining in the season - a home and home with Flint, they travel to Sault Ste. Marie and Sarnia for road games and their next game is this Thursday when they play host to the Owen Sound Attack.
