Edmonton - July 29, 2012 - Divers Émilie Heymans and Jennifer Abel are the first Canadians to find their way to the podium at the 2012 London Olympics, winning the bronze medal in the womens synchronized three metre springboard. The third place finish gives Heymans medals in four consecutive Olympic Games, making her the first Canadian summer athlete and first female diver, to accomplish the feat.

Canada's most decorated diver collected a silver medal in the ten metre synchro in 2000 and than added a bronze, in the same event, four years later in Athens. She followed that up by picking up her first individual medal at the Beijing Games, taking home another silver, this time in in the women's ten metre platform. Setting the stage for a chance at a spot in the history book in London.

The duo began their 2012 season with a bang, by taking the silver medal at the 2012 World Cup but have struggled ever since. Luckily for them, the got it done when it mattered most and will end up leaving London as Olympic medalists. While it has become no surprise to see Heymans bring home an Olympic medal, it was a whole new experience for her partner, who made her first trip to an Olympic podium.
