Pigskin Picks - Brees and Saints over Cutler
Well, Pigskin picks went 4 for 5 for a solid 80% success rate in Week One, missing only the Bears over the Falcons, much to the delight of my colleague Chris Savard! Looking ahead to Week Two action, Austen likes Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints over Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears.

Antigonish - Sep. 14, 2011 - Well, Pigskin picks went 4 for 5 for a solid 80% success rate in Week One, missing only the Bears over the Falcons, much to the delight of my colleague Chris Savard!

Looking ahead to Week Two action, the picks are as follows:

Lock of the Week - Green Bay @ Carolina - Cam Newton certainly surprised just about everyone with his record performance on opening day in a tight loss, but I expect him to return to earth against the considerably better Green Bay defence. While Carolina’s passing game exceeded expectations in Week One, Green Bay’s and Aaron Rodger’s dominant performance came as a surprise to no-one. SuperBowl champ vs. 2010’s last place team is an obvious mismatch. Green Bay wins.

Baltimore @ Tennessee -
Chris Johnson’s return was anticlimactic in the Titans Week One loss, and the Ravens were nothing short of dominant in their lopsided victory over rival Pittsburgh. He will not get any more room vs. the Baltimore defence, and with Baltimore’s offence looking equally impressive, look for the more talented team to prevail. Baltimore wins.

Chicago @ New Orleans -
Chicago came storming out of the gates in Week One, dismantling a strong Atlanta team who had no answers for the Mike Martz directed offense. Jay Cutler and Matt Forte looked impressive, as did Brian Urlacher and the Bears D. “Da Bears” face an even tougher matchup in Week Two, however, with the Saints looking to bounce back from a tough Week One loss to Green Bay. Look for Drew Brees and the high flying Saints, even minus top WR Marques Colston (arm) to prevail against a surprisingly strong Bears team. Saints win.

Seattle @ Pittsburgh -
The Steelers were destroyed in Week One, and have some injury issues on the offensive line to contend with. Make no mistake though, this is a strong team, and one that be playing angry. Seattle simply does not have the weapons on offence to match up against a Steelers D that will be looking to regain their swagger, and Ben Roethlisberger and Rashard Mendenhall will be geared up to unleash the beast against a Seattle defence that is thin on top end talent. Pittsburgh wins.

Jacksonville @ NY Jets -
In defeating a strong Cowboys team in Week One, the Jets served notice that they are a force to be reckoned with in the AFC. With perhaps the best shut down corner the league has seen since Deion Sanders in Darelle Revis anchoring a dominant defence along with an offence that can be explosive, the Jets are a tough matchup. Their week Two opponents on the other hand, not only cut their starting QB days before the season started, but have star RB Maurice Jones-Drew on a snap count with a knee that may not yet be 100%. With no room to run, and nowhere to pass, Jacksonville looks to start the 2011-12 season 0-2. Jets win.

Pick tally - 4 for 5 (80%)
