Devonshire Mall

Windsor - Dec. 19, 2013 - For the past seven years, starting late December, members of Devonshire Mall's cleaning staff have collected coins in support of two local Food Bank Programs. Whether it's a penny found on the floor or a nickle in the parking lot, coins are gladly picked up and saved until the following Christmas in order to purchase Christmas Food Baskets for families registered with The Windsor Homes Coalition as well as a cash donation to The Salvation Army Kettle Program.

Staff was assisted this year by Devonshire Mall's holiday "Movie with Mrs. Claus" program as tickets were sold to attend 2 showings of "Polar Express" on Sunday, December 8th. Tickets were sold at a nominal charge of $2.00 per adult and $1.00 per child with all the proceeds going directly to support The Windsor Homes Coalition. This year, we are happy to report that six Christmas Food Baskets were purchased at $200.00 each via The Windsor Homes Coalition and $130.00 cash deposited to the Salvation Army Kettle allowing the team to make a $1,330.00 donation to our community.

A huge thank you to Raymond Jido, Cindy Young and Irene Sirka for organizing this initiative every year! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
