Kevin Siddall passes

Windsor - February 4, 2014 - Kevin Siddall passed away this morning at the age of fourteen. The young, multi-sport athlete was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma last summer and fought a brave battle. Kevin was more than an athlete, though. He was a son, grandson, nephew, brother, cousin and friend. And he will be missed by many.

I didn’t know Kevin personally, but I knew of him. And when I covered a benefit game in his honour last November, it was clear that he touched many lives in his short life. LaSalle’s Vollmer Centre was filled with Kevin’s family and friends for a game between his Windsor Junior Spitfires and the LaSalle Sabres.

Everyone attending the game that night was encouraged to wear lime green, the colour of Lymphoma awareness. And there was green everywhere. “Revvin’ For Kevin” towels were waved, and “Fight For Kevin” bracelets were worn. The game was broadcast to Kevin’s hospital so he could watch it. The game raised awareness of Lymphoma, and nearly 700 blood donations have been made since Kevin was diagnosed.

To Kevin’s parents Joe and Tamara, brother Brett, sisters Brooke and Mackenzie, and all of his family and friends, heartfelt condolences from all of us here at HometownHockey.ca
