Player Profile - Change to Site

Good Morning All,

I want to call your attention to a change to the site that we needed to make. On each page, there was a link to the player's NHL Profile Page. When each player was added to our HH Database, we have copy and pasted the link from the NHL site into our db. The NHL recently made a change to the naming convention of all their page links by adding in the player's team.

As such, all historical players in our db before this change would have a dead link. All new players added will work, but only as long as they stay on the same team. As such, this is a big problem for us given that we currently have 2,307 players in the db. Even if we wanted to go in and manually change every link to the new version, that exercise is only accurate until the next trade and then there will be errors again.

Rick, Jeff and I have discussed this and there is too much time and effort involved in that exercise to make it worthwhile.

SOLUTION - As of today, all player profile pages have been modified to point to the player's profile page on Hockey Reference page. This page will give you access to a ton of stats for that player on the HR site.

IMPORTANT REMINDER - Even though this change has been made on the player profile page to give GMs quick access to player HR stats, NHL.com will remain our source for position determinations.
