Proposal - Change to Waiver Drafts

Postby Chris_Savard on November 5th, 2018, 9:11 am

Based on the email chatter from yesterday, I have tried to capture what was said...

- no interest in longer Entry Draft
- willingness to keep the Minors
- no drops required on the NOV/DEC waivers suggested

To make things simpler for me/us, I would also suggest...

- make all six waivers the same (ie: no drops required for ANY of the six monthly waiver picks)
- adjust max roster total to 30 from current 25. (If you are at your limit going in to a waiver draft, you either need to trade to make room or forego your pick in that month.)

I think this is a good solution. It will make the Waiver drafts quicker, it allows more players in the league and solves some of the challenges teams have been experiencing with their lineups.

Please vote in FAVOUR or AGAINST below. 13 votes needed to pass.

If passed, I will return all of the OCT dropped players to your lineups

What the fuck?!? Marksmen are AGAINST this!

Don't get me wrong. I love the idea and am all for it, for NEXT YEAR.

We all went into the draft knowing we needed to have enough players to dress both a Major and a Minor team. I purposely turned down good trade offers during the offseason, and passed on drafting players I really wanted, because I needed to make sure I had enough draft picks to fill my roster accordingly. I'm happy that my way of thinking is giving me a competitive advantage over some of you. If other GMs didn't do the same in preparing their roster then that's their problem and they should suffer the consequences. This proposal is simply a hand out for bad decision making.

These proposed changes, and knowing I could be adding 6 NEW players to my roster over the season will change the way I handle trade offers and prepare for the draft in the future.

Not to mention that according to our constitution any change that drastically alters competition needs to be done during the offseason prior to the draft. This proposal drastically alters the competition.

copied from the Constitution.
"Any proposed changes to the constitution that will drastically change the competition should be submitted to league headquarters 1 week prior to the designated date of the summer meeting."

So once again. If this proposal is to make changes for next season, I'm all for it. If it's to make the changes now. I'm 100% against it.

Expos are a hard no!!!

I agree with Marksman, changing this mid-season would be silly for the exact reasons he stated.
