League Proposal - Return of Minor League for 2017-18

A proposal for you to consider. Please place your vote below.

RETURN OF THE MINORS
For the GMs that have been around for a while, you will know remember what the minors were about.

Here is what I am proposing...
- The CFHL would bring back the minors for the 2017-18 season.
- No changes are being proposed for the majors, as we know it today.
- Each team will choose a minor league team name and logo.
- Each week, in addition to your regular line-up you will dress 6 guys for the minors (LW, C, RW, D, D, G)
- In addition to your weekly match-up, the two minor league teams will also compete against each other (6 players vs 6 players - same scoring format)
- Draft will still be 12 rounds
- Once a player is "protected" he is flagged until he is left unprotected. Protected players are not eligible to participate in the minors.
- Entry fee will remain $150 for majors - same purse split
- March Madness will remain $5 - same purse split.
- Minors Entry Fee will be $10. Split will be $140 for first, $70 for second, $30 for third. Standings will be shown as 1-24
- Total entry fee will now be $165.00. We are effectively at $155.00 now.

Please place your vote below. If there is a majority of GMs interested, we will introduce for next year. if not, that's fine too. This will require a fair bit of work to get the site ready to accept the new format and I will only move forward if there is an appetite to bring back the minors. I can work on it over the summer break.

Back in the day, it was an extra competition that teams paid attention to and it adds a new twist to trading and waivers. I think it is an addition worth bringing back. It would be possible for 17 out of 24 teams to win something.

This sounds like a great idea Chris. Can you clarify exactly how protecting/unprotecting works?

Mark - we will use the existing protected lists for the upcoming Entry draft. Each team will protect 11 players as usual. Those 264 players (24x11) will be flagged with a protected label until such time they are either dropped as part of the Waiver process or not protected the following year. Those 264 players will be ineligible to participate in the minors. This is done to prevent teams from dropping all their star players down to the minors simply to win $$$ down there.

Outlaws vote no.. only because trades from this past season were made to compete for cup run based on the protected 11 players only.. if we are able to protect more then 11 I would vote in favour.. or wait until 2018-2019
