Waiver Draft Proposal

Postby Chris_Savard on January 27th, 2016, 11:57 am

I have received a good suggestion from the GM of the BEAST (CFHL) about a way to speed up the monthly Waiver Draft.

He is suggesting that the statistician would send out an email on the Sunday night prior to the Monday Waiver - announcing that the Waiver week is upon us. At the same time, I will set up the Forum to start accommodating your drops. From there, if a team wishes to participate in the Waiver Draft - each GM will have until 7:00 pm on Monday to post their drop on the Forum. If a team doesn't post they will forfeit their waiver pick that month.

He goes on to suggest that most of the players that are picked in the waiver draft are seldom dressed, This suggestion is being made to try to make things move smoothly and in an orderly fashion. The order of the waiver draft would remain the same except if a team doesn't drop by deadline, the pick is lost and the draft proceeds to the next team on the list.

As the statistician, I really like this suggestion. It is clear that some teams have less motivation than others to participate in the Waiver Draft and this would give them the option to OPT OUT. I would ask you to cast your vote below (AGREE or DISAGREE) and we can proceed with the majority decision for the FEB and MAR Waiver draft.

Thanks in advance!

Hi gents,

I agree as well that this is a good idea, especially with regards to speeding up the draft process.

My only concern is that the intention of the waiver draft is to permit teams to re-stock and to "share the wealth" - as such I am not sure that owners should be permitted to "opt out", as this may permit stronger teams to hold onto players that may be of value to owners of weaker teams. That said, if we can turn a 7 day process into a 2 day process, I am pretty sure I can get over it.
