Kaberle trade predictions?

Postby Glenn_Austen on February 16th, 2011, 12:23 pm

Well, I guess I will get a topic started - why not Kaberle trade predictions?

Boston seems to be the best destination (at least according to Kaberle), so I will predict this:

To Boston: Kaberle, 3rd

To Toronto: Wheeler, Colborne, 1st (Toronto's)

Would work for both teams, I think, giving the Bruins the missing piece for a long run, and giving TO a big strong forward, a center with lots of potential, and their own high pick back.

Anyone else want to hazard a guess? Let's have some fun here!

I like what you think that Boston would give Toronto for Kaberle...I feel it would almost go like this...

To Boston-Kaberle and Philly's 3rd

To Toronto-Wheeler,Kampfer and Toronto's 1st entry

That is what it would possibly be....but with Burke at the helm you will never know!

Lucic and a 1st for Kaberle!

I haven't followed Boston much (no Bruins on my roster this year) so I don't really know them that well. As long as Savard isn't part of the deal I'm fine. I like the idea of Lucic (I had him last year). He'd be a good fit in blue and white. I also have no problem with Kaberle staying in TO although I think the chances of that are pretty slim. It would be nice to see him finish his career as a Leaf.

Lucic a Leaf??

Come on boys. Lucic is the second coming of Cam Neely in Boston. He won't be traded anytime soon.

Looks like Glenn and Kelly are on track. Preliminary reports popping up on sports sites say that a deal is in the works involving Wheeler and a draft pick for Kaberle. Boston is trying to free up some cap space for the trade by moving Mark Stuart to Chicago. See here http://bleacherreport.com/tb/b8cSl

Looks like we were all wrong. Kaberle went for prospect Joe Colborne and Boston's 1st round pick. Now Burk has two 1st round picks to play with. Let's see if he negotiates them into a power player trade.

Well, I had the Colbourne and 1st part right, and Wheeler was traded, just not to the Leafs (yes, the 1st round pick was Bostons, not Toronto's, but other than that, I nailed it! :)
Still not a bad deal at all for TO, especially considering that Burke was hardly dealing from a position of strength with Kaberle essentially only consenting to be dealt to Boston.
Now if the Leafs can just keep winning w/o Kaberle so that the 1st they sent to Boston is not another top 5 pick!
All this analysis, and I am not even a Leaf fan!
I am a fan of the forum and league chatter, however, so lets keep'er going!

The Bruins seemed poised for a Stanley Cup run.
Kaberle should help the powerplay.
Peverley is somewhat of an upgrade from Wheeler.
Chris Kelly's speed should help the 3rd or 4th line produce some goals!
If everyone can stay healthy it should all add up to a parade in Beantown this summer!
Go B's!!!!

I think Boston and Philly both look good in the East. If Philly can pick up a goalie this week - they will be tough
